ResearchBookhouse has an ongoing program of software and hardware reasearch, as well as workflow studies. The core objective of the research is to constantly improve all aspects of workflow, with particular attention paid to efficiency improvements. This manifests itself in practice with the ongoing development of the Paginator typesetting engine and best-practices for image handling and PDF generation. Bookhouse has a reputation for being able to deliver on the tough stuff. Complex indexes, dictionaries, tables, catalogues, and even phone directories are the projects Bookhouse will always impress. These high-end projects require special software, procedures and implementation tactics to operate effectively. The ongoing research, performed by Simon Paterson and assisted by Daniel Andrews, is catalogued in a protected Wiki installation at eBookhouse. The benefits of this research directly improves the ongoing work performed by Bookhouse. |
